Odd nook in laundry room turned into storage

This family added a laundry room to the second story of their Woodstock home, but it contained an odd nook that needed some storage built in. The family wanted something to help organize the laundry baskets and provided space for storage of other items.

The basket tower was designed to fit the baskets hanging on cleats so that they can be pulled out to drop laundry or take to the washing machine.

The fitted shelves were constructed by securing battens to the wall studs, then attaching the lower shelf face using the white mounting blocks. The top face and front were glued and pin nailed on, using the battens as structural support. Both shelf faces were scribed to the wall to account for irregularities in the drywall.
