Built-in cabinets with firewood box
The family in Woodstock wanted to remodel the fireplace wall of the living room, replacing old standalone hutches with built-in cabinets for more storage and a better overall look. These were designed to fit alongside the fireplace and just under the exisiting mantle. Both cabinets contain an upper drawer with open storage underneath with adjustable shelving. The toe kick is arched for a little design flair.
The left-side cabinet gave up one of the doored storage spaces for a firewood rack, lined with metal for protection of the cabinet from wood use. The shelf above the firewood holds matches, kindling, and other items for the fire's maintenance.
The cabinets are made from red oak and finished in Varthane's Briarsmoke and General Finishes High Performance semi-gloss water-based poly.
