Custom-sized doors in remodeled basement

A newly finished basement needed something to close the guest room off from the living room and the family wanted a statement piece. With the idea of barn doors in mind, they worked with the contractor to make room for the hardware and these beefy doors.

Made from tongue-and-groove red oak, each door measures 82" x 31" and rides on a track system from Rustica Hardware. The bedroom side includes a hook latch for privacy. The frame is attached with black oxide cap screws set in threaded inserts, to match the Rustica hardware, and give the tongue-and-groove planks room to move.

The doors are finished with Rubio Monocoat's Chocolate hard wax oil.
